What to expect at Community Cabinet

Community Cabinet provides an opportunity to ask questions, raise opportunities, share ideas and meet with Queensland Government representatives, when the event is held in your region.

You can register for a 15-minute meeting with a Cabinet Minister and/or attend an afternoon tea reception with the Premier and Ministers.

A deputation is a group of people appointed to represent others and present their views and concerns to a person in authority, such as a government official or an organisation. Deputations are often used to discuss or negotiate specific issues or to request action on behalf of a larger group.

You can choose to register for just one part of the event – such as a deputation meeting or the afternoon tea – or for both.

All attendees must register an expression of interest for each event they wish to attend.

Yes, you will have a one-on-one meeting with the Minister that has been allocated to you and associated departmental representatives.

You will be allocated 15 minutes only. Be prepared to present your key points clearly and bring any relevant documents or background information the Minister and their team can take away if necessary.

You will need your ticket to attend. You may also want to prepare a list of talking points to help you stay focused and make the most of your time with the Minister.

Not always and in some instances, where requests for meetings are oversubscribed, you may not get an opportunity to speak directly with a Minister or the Minister you requested.

When submitting your request, choose the Minister most relevant to your topic using the dropdown list of portfolio responsibilities.

If you are not allocated a one-on-one meeting with a Minister, you may be able to attend the afternoon tea reception and engage with Ministers and Queensland Government officials there.

Yes. We recommend up to three people per group. Please agree ahead of time who will lead the conversation and what topics you will cover.

Yes. Individuals are welcome to request a meeting with a Minister.

Requests generally close two weeks prior to the event to allow time for meeting allocation.

We will endeavour to issue tickets one week prior to the event. If you have not received your ticket(s) by the Thursday before the event, please email communitycabinet@premiers.qld.gov.au. Please check your junk or spam folder, just in case correspondence has been redirected there.

Yes. The afternoon tea offers an opportunity to network with Queensland Government officials and other community members and organisations.

Meeting requests are reviewed based on topic relevance, Minister availability, and overall demand. We aim to connect you with the most appropriate Minister for your topic, but due to high demand, not all requests can be accommodated.

If you need to update your registration details or request, please email communitycabinet@premiers.qld.gov.au as soon as possible. Changes may not be possible close to the event date.

If you are no longer able to attend, please let us know by emailing communitycabinet@premiers.qld.gov.au so we can update our records and your place may be offered to someone else.

Yes. You may be asked to show ID that matches the name on your ticket when checking in at the event.

Yes. Security screening and bag checks will be undertaken as you enter the venue.
