Employment support

Support is available to help you with finding and keeping the right job.

The Australian Government takes the lead in helping people with disability, mental illness, chronic illness and injury with finding and keeping meaningful work. It does this by delivering services through Centrelink to help meet a person's individual needs.

Contacting Centrelink

You can talk to a person at your local Centrelink office about registering with a Disability Employment Service, starting work at an ADE or getting more information about other types of employment assistance. Just call 13 27 17, or TTY 1800 810 586.

You can also contact Centrelink through the National Relay Service:

  • TTY users phone 13 36 77 then call 13 27 17
  • Speak and listen users phone 1300 555 727 then 13 27 17
  • Internet relay users visit the National Relay Service then enter 13 27 17.
