Health service

A health service refers to any service that maintains, improves, restores, or cares for a person’s health or wellbeing. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Personal care for someone who is ill, injured, or infirm, such as:
    • Assistance with personal hygiene
    • Help with dressing
    • Support provided by hospital assistants in a ward of a hospital, including lifting and turning bedridden patients and moving patients from a place to another place.
  • Respite care
  • Services provided by practitioners of natural or alternative health care, including:
    • Hypnosis
    • Naturopathy
    • Acupuncture
  • Massage services, including relaxation massage
  • Services provided by health students in their student capacity
  • Any other service prescribed by regulation as a health service.
