Smart Energy Council solar panel and home battery recovery pilots

Solar Panel Recovery Pilot

The Queensland Government provided funding of $2.5 million over 2 years to the Smart Energy Council to develop a pilot program to better understand the collection, reuse, and recycling of household solar panels in Queensland. The pilot program tested multiple collection pathways, stimulated growth and provided information on the development of a State based framework for the recovery and recycling of end-of-life solar panels. Household Battery Energy Storage Systems

In conjunction with the Solar Panel Recovery Pilot the Queensland Government provided further funding of $745,000 to Smart Energy Council to develop a pilot project for household battery energy storage systems (HSBESS). HSBESS are commonly known as household solar batteries. This pilot project was developed to test collection pathways and provided further information on the recovery and recycling of these batteries.
