Book, change or cancel your ceremony at the Brisbane registry
You can book, change or cancel your ceremony date any time, even before your interview with us.
If you've booked with a private celebrant, civil partnership notary or church, contact them directly (not us).
Contact us to check which of your 3 preferred ceremony dates are available.
We will check the dates before contacting you to make payment to book your date and let you know what to do next.
You must submit your completed and signed Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM) application plus proof of ID and any other documents to us. Bring these along to your interview appointment. If you can’t come to an interview appointment, you can tell us when completing the request below.
We must receive your NOIM and documents at least 1 month before your ceremony date, or your ceremony will not go ahead.
We will send you an email to let you know what to do next.

Your booking will be confirmed when we receive all the documents and payment.
There is no charge for the first date change.
You must contact us to change it at least 2 weeks before the ceremony date you have booked.
If you don't give the required notice, you will:
- lose the original booking fee
- need to pay a new booking fee
- need to book a new ceremony date.
If you change your ceremony date more than once, you will need to pay an extra booking fee.
Contact us to cancel at least 1 month before your ceremony date, for a refund of the ceremony and certificate fees (if applicable).
The booking fee is not refunded.
The refund will go to the person who paid for the ceremony.
You will lose the full fee paid if:
- you have not cancelled at least 1 month before the booked date
- you don't show up for your ceremony.
