Dystonia

Dystonia is a disorder that makes controlling your muscles difficult. This can lead to muscle spasms and tremors which can result in the body taking on positions it does not normally take.

There is no clear reason why people can develop dystonia but it does occur in people with brain chemistry imbalances due to genetics or after brain injuries. Dystonia can involve the whole body but some types of dystonia can form in specific parts of the body like the face. This can happen at any age.

Treatments for dystonia include muscle relaxant injections, medications and surgery.
