Noise in the ear

Tinnitus is a physical condition, experienced as noises or ringing in the ears or head, when no such external physical noise is present. It is a symptom of a problem with the body's hearing system. Although there is no cure, some causes of tinnitus are treatable. Tinnitus may come and go, or you may be aware of a continuous sound. The noise can vary in pitch from a low roar to a high squeal or whine, and it may be heard in one or both ears. When the ringing is constant, it can be annoying and distracting.
