Pleurisy

Pleurisy is an inflammation of the membrane that surrounds and protects the lungs (the pleura) which causes the membranes to rub and grate against each other. Sharp chest pains are the primary symptom of pleurisy.

Common causes include bacterial and viral infections such as pneumonia.
