The Deafness and Mental Health Service is made up of a mix of professionals.
- Psychiatrist—a doctor who diagnoses and treats mental illness
- Psychiatry registrar—a doctor who is training to become a psychiatrist
- Team leader—a professional who manages the team
- Clinical nurse specialist—a nurse who supports people with mental illness
- Mental health practitioner—a social worker who supports people with mental illness
- Research officer—a professional who runs research projects for the service
- Project officer—a person who makes new programs and resources for deaf and hard of hearing people and staff
- Administration officer—a person who manages day-to-day things the team needs such as making appointments and booking interpreters.
- Auslan interpreter—a NAATI-certified professional interpreter with mental health experience
We use agency NAATI-certified Auslan interpreters and Deaf interpreters whenever you need them.
