In short
When someone takes, shares or threatens to share an intimate image of another person without their consent, it’s called image-based abuse.
Use these laws and rules to understand image-based abuse.
You must
To comply with the law in Queensland you must:
- Get consent before taking or sharing an intimate images of another person.
You cannot
To comply with the law in Queensland you cannot:
- Take a nude, intimate or sexual image of another person without their consent.
- Share a nude, intimate or sexual image of another person without their consent.
- Threaten to take or share nude, intimate or sexual images of another person.
- Edit an image of another person onto a sexually explicit image.
- Generate a sexually explicit AI Deepfake of another person.
- Film another person having consensual sex or being sexually assaulted.
