Image-based abuse is when someone takes, shares or threatens to share an intimate image of another person without their consent.
The maximum penalty for sharing or threatening to share an intimate image without consent is 3 years in prison.

You must
To comply with the law in Queensland you must:
- get consent before taking or sharing an intimate images of another person.
You cannot
To comply with the law in Queensland you cannot:
- take a nude, intimate or sexual image of another person without their consent
- share a nude, intimate or sexual image of another person without their consent
- threaten to take or share nude, intimate or sexual images of another person
- edit an image of another person onto a sexually explicit image
- generate a sexually explicit AI Deepfake of another person
- film another person having consensual sex or being sexually assaulted.
