What you should know
The Parole Board Queensland makes decisions about parole.
It decides if it’s safe to release prisoners into the community under supervision.
The focus of the parole board is community safety. It must balance this with prisoner rehabilitation and return to the community.
The board:
- decides applications for parole
- changes, suspends or cancels parole orders
- considers a prisoner’s
- readiness to return to the community
- behaviour in prison
- participation in programs
- risk of reoffending.
The board is an independent statutory body. This means it operates separate from government.
