The VOCCR program works closely with the Queensland Homicide Victim Support Group. We can support family members and witnesses affected by a homicide across Queensland.
Community response
The program can also respond to major violent incidents that have had a serious impact on Queensland communities. It offers support to help with recovery.
VOCCR will start a community response by working with other agencies, like Queensland Police.
Community response may involve:
- doorknocking
- providing information
- creating a community hub.
It will provide mental health first aid to help impacted community members and witnesses.

The program generally takes referrals within 5 days of the incident from approved services such as:

- Queensland Health
- specialised domestic and family violence services
- specialist sexual assault services
- Queensland Homicide Victim’s Support Group.
A service can refer you with your consent 24/7.
