Renew your security industry licence

We'll post you a renewal notice about 6 weeks before your licence expires. Make sure to tell us if you change your address.

You can also renew your licence online.

You need your licence number to get started. Find out how to use Fair Trading Online Services.

If you submit your renewal form and pay the fee before your current licence expires, you can keep working while your renewal application is being processed.

While it's being processed, you must be able to produce your expired licence and a renewal fee payment receipt. A receipt will be issued automatically when you pay online. If you paid by post, contact us to ask for a receipt.

If your current licence has expired, it can't be renewed—you'll need to apply for a new licence. You must not work until you're properly licensed again.

Fingerprinting

If your fingerprints are already on record, you won't need to provide them again. If you've never had your fingerprints taken for your security licence, you must do that when you renew your licence.

Get more details about fingerprinting.

Fees

You must pay the relevant fees when you submit your application.
