What you should know
The motorcycle hazard perception test is an online test that checks if you can notice dangerous situations on the road and respond safely. If you have an email address recorded with Transport and Main Roads, we'll email you once you get your motorcycle learner licence and can take the test.
There are no exemptions from taking the test.
Taking the test
The test includes 25 short, computer-generated video clips based on situations that are most challenging for new riders. You'll be asked to show how you would react to each situation.
The test covers how to:
- look ahead
- slow down
- move away.
You must get at least 13 questions correct to pass the test.
To read more about the test and see example questions, see Prepare for the hazard perception tests.
You can take the test on any other device. However, we recommend taking the test on a laptop or desktop computer with a bigger screen. If you take the test on your mobile, make sure you can clearly see the screen.
A practice test is available before you begin. You can practise as many times as you like.
When you are ready, set aside some time to focus on the test. You must complete your hazard perception test in one sitting; you cannot save your progress.
