How to enrol in direct debit
You can only enrol in direct debit online. The enrolment process can't be done over the phone or in person at a transport and motoring customer service centre.
- Your registration must be current to enrol in direct debit.
- If your registration is due within the next 18 days, you will need to make an immediate payment online by credit card for your chosen registration period (For example, 1 month).

Enrol in direct debit to pay your registration
To enrol you must:
- be at least 18 years of age
- be a registered operator of at least 1 eligible registration (your name must be on the registration notice). If your vehicle has 2 individual registered operators, either person can pay by direct debit
- provide a valid email address and current mobile phone number (so we can contact you if a payment fails and send your renewal notice to you)
- agree to receive your notices and reminders by email
- nominate a bank account or accepted credit card for your registration renewal payments to be deducted from. Gift cards can’t be used for ongoing direct debit payments
- accept the direct debit terms and conditions
- select which registrations you want to add.
Registrations you can renew by direct debit
Eligible registrations
Current registrations for most vehicles, boats, caravans, motorcycles, and trailers are eligible for direct debit.
- Boats can only select a 12-month registration period.
- Ambulances can select 6-month and 12-month registration period.
Fire and Rescue Vehicles can enrol in direct debit but may not be able to select the full range of registration periods.
Registrations you can't renew by direct debit
Registration must not:
- have a common due date
- are registered to an organisation only (no individual listed as a registered operator)
- be recorded as wrecked or written off (statutory)
- be reported as stolen—you can check this on the Personal Property Securities Register
- be subject to a defect notice
- be expired or cancelled
- be a new registration
- have a charitable concession on a heavy trailer or caravan
- have seasonal registration
- have a registration category recorded as:
- special purpose
- dealer or trade plate
- wheelchair.

Accept terms of use
Read and accept the terms of use for our online services.
Enter customer details
Enter your customer reference number and your first name, last name and date of birth.
Verify customer details
When you click the Email online access code button, a 6-digit code will be sent to the email address you have recorded with us. Enter the code.
Enrolling in direct debit
List registrations
On this screen you’ll see a list of all registrations in your name that are eligible for direct debit. If you can’t see the registration you want to enrol, check the list of reasons why it may not be listed.
Notification details
Check the mobile number and email address that you have recorded with us to make sure they’re correct. Any updates you make here will affect all communications we send you, including licence renewals and payment reminders.
If you’re not already signed up for e-notices and e-reminders, you’ll need to tick these boxes.
Read the e-correspondence terms and conditions and tick the Accept terms and conditions box.
Review notification details
Check your details are correct.
Terms of use
Read the Direct Debit terms of use, then tick the Accept terms and conditions box.
You'll be taken to our payment provider, BPOINT.
BPOINT payment detail entry
You’ll need to enter the payment details for your future direct debit payments.
Don’t worry, you won’t be charged now – these details will only be used for future direct debit payments.
Service agreement
Read the Direct debit service request agreement for registration renewals and click Accept.
After you’ve accepted the terms, you will receive an email confirming that your payment details have been recorded.
Adding one or more registrations to be paid by direct debit
Add registrations
Now you’ll need to choose at least 1 registration to add to direct debit.
Tick the box next to each registration you’d like to add and choose how often you’d like to pay.
For example, if you want to pay a month of registration at a time, choose the '1 month' option.
Review registrations
You’ll see a list of the registrations you’ve chosen to add to direct debit. Click Continue if everything is correct or Change details if you need to make updates.
You will receive an email confirming that the registrations you chose have been added to your direct debit.
Check your registrations
You’ll see a list of the registrations you added to direct debit.
If you see a tick and the words Payment due in red next to a registration, this means it is due for renewal. You have the option to Continue and pay the renewal by credit or debit card. Future renewals for the registration will then be set to be paid by direct debit.
Making an immediate payment (if required)
Confirm order
You’ll see the amount due to renew the registrations, for the term that you chose.
When you continue, you’ll be taken to our payment provider where you can pay the renewal amount and the card surcharge that applies.
BPOINT payment detail entry
Enter your card details for your immediate payment.
Payment receipt
Once you’ve renewed your registration, you’ll receive an email receipt. Future renewals for the registration will be paid by direct debit.
