Part of the Fines and enforcement topic
If you receive an infringement for a camera-detected offence you were not responsible for, it may be possible to transfer the fine to another person or organisation.
On this page
In short
This service allows you to transfer a fine to another person or organisation. Only fines for camera-detected traffic offences can be transferred.
You cannot transfer a fine if it has been paid.
See How to transfer a fine for the full process and other ways to transfer.
What you should know
You can use this service to transfer a fine if:
- someone else was driving a vehicle registered to you when an offence was committed
- you were driving a vehicle registered to someone else when an offence was committed.
You must transfer a fine within 28 days of the issue date on the notice. If not:
- the State Penalties Enforcement Registry (SPER) may take enforcement action to recover the amount of the fine from the person or organisation the infringement was issued to, and any additional referring fees
- the demerit points will be added to the traffic record of the person the infringement was issued to, from the date the offence was committed.
Self-nominations can be done up to 12 months after the infringement notice issue date.
If you do not know who was responsible for the offence, you can submit an infringement enquiry.
If the vehicle was stolen or illegally taken
You need to provide a police crime report number from the state or territory that you reported to.
You must also report the theft to Transport and Main Roads before transferring a fine online or submitting a statutory declaration.
