Community Road Safety Grants
The Department of Transport and Main Roads provides funding for not-for-profit community organisations to deliver road safety education initiatives through the Community Road Safety Grants scheme. The scheme consists of 4 funding streams:
- Community Road Safety Education Grants (one-off funding)
- Motorcycle Ride to Zero Grants (one-off funding)
- Learner Driver Mentor Program (recurrent funding)
- Road Safety Education Program (recurrent funding)
Who can apply?
For your organisation to be eligible you must be one of the following:
- incorporated or registered under an Act of Parliament with not-for-profit objectives
- a government entity
- a Parents and Citizens or Parents and Friends association in partnership with schools.
Online grants portal
We recently upgraded our online grants portal to improve your experience.
Use the portal to view and apply for available funding opportunities. If you are awarded a grant, you must also manage your agreement through the Portal.
Register to access the Online Grant Portal
Individuals and organisations only need to be registered once.
To use the online grants portal, you will first need to register as an individual account holder. Once you've registered yourself, you can register your organisation.
Using the online grants portal
Tactiv, the provider of our online grants portal, offer help desk support for users through their support portal. Search the knowledge base articles for useful information and instructions on how to use our portal.

Funding streams
Community Road Safety Education Grants provide an opportunity for not-for-profit groups to support local road safety education initiatives that drive a change in behaviours and attitudes to road safety in local communities.
Objective
To support Queensland communities with the development and delivery of effective road safety education initiatives that support people to be safer road users.
Funding limit and delivery
Funding is available up to $40,000.
Initiatives must be delivered within 12 months of when funding is awarded.
Applying for a grant
Two funding rounds are available throughout the year. The application submission period for each funding round is open for 6 months.
If you have received a previous Community Road Safety Education Grant, you will need to ensure your previous grant is finalised by the approval date of any new application.

Opening dates
Funding rounds open in April and October.
Closing dates
The next funding rounds will close at 5pm on 31 March 2026 and September 2026.
Outcome announcement
It is anticipated successful applicants will be announced three – four months after the closing date.

Grant recipients
The Motorcycle Ride to Zero Grants are designed to help local organisations including motorcycle clubs and groups provide opportunities for riders to undertake post-licence training courses. Providing opportunities for riders to undertake these courses will support them to enjoy their riding whilst staying safe on Queensland roads.
Objective
To provide opportunities for motorcycle riders to undertake subsidised post-licence training courses to improve their safe riding skills and on-road behaviours.
Funding limit and delivery
One-off funding is available to support up to 100 motorcycle riders with subsidised participant fees to attend a post-licence training course.

Learner driver mentor programs give disadvantaged people access to volunteer mentors and vehicles to help them meet the supervised driving requirement for upgrading a learner licence.

Grant recipients
Road safety education programs work across all ages to develop a broader positive community culture towards improving road safety. The programs aim to equip children, adolescents and young people with the attitudes, skills and knowledge they need to become safer road users.
