Wujal Wujal water infrastructure upgrades

Delivered in partnership by the Australian Government, Queensland Government and Wujal Wujal Aboriginal Shire Council.

Work has begun on the project to design and construct an upgraded water treatment plant to replace the existing plant. The new plant will include:

  • continuous membrane filtration, chemical dosing, and UV treatment
  • supporting raw water pipework and tanks
  • modern control systems including SCADA.

The project complements disaster relief work following ex-Tropical Cyclone Jasper and supports the commitment to Close the Gap on water security in First Nations communities.

The project team will consult with all stakeholders throughout the project. They will work closely with the Wujal Wujal Aboriginal Shire Council and the local community to consider water safety and reliability issues.
