Important information for Home Raising program
11.59pm (AEST), 1 December 2025: Grant applications for funding close, unless funds have already been exhausted.
31 March 2027: The completion of works date listed in your Building Contract must not exceed this date.
You must complete the following before 30 June 2027 (or as per the ‘eligible works table’ agreed in your letter of offer):
- a request for final milestone payment submitted to QRIDA
- a RHF completion inspection of the works
- Final Building Certification (if applicable) or the provision of the required trade certificates as listed in the Value for Money Certificate
- Rectification of defects or incomplete works by the licensed contractor
- final invoices issued to the homeowner by the licensed contractor
- final invoices submitted by the homeowner to QRIDA
- final milestone payment released by QRIDA.
You need to allow time in your planning for these activities to ensure you meet the works completed deadline.
If you're experiencing difficulties in finalising a home raise application before the 1 December 2025 due date, the Resilient Retrofit program is a great alternative to improve your home's resilience to future flooding.
In May 2024, a regulation amendment was passed to increase the Home Raising program funding threshold from $100,000 to $150,000.
This was in response to concerns from homeowners that market conditions, cost of living pressures and ongoing recovery from flood damage was making it challenging to raise their homes, even with the grant funding available.
That's why we increased funding for eligible works from $100,000 to $150,000. This means eligible homeowners have access to an additional government funding before they need to contribute.
This is enabling more homeowners to raise their homes and protect more homes from future flooding events.
We encourage homeowners to progress their funding application to QRIDA.
If you've commenced or completed resilience works, this additional funding can be reimbursed once your application is approved by QRIDA.
What this means
If you are eligible for the Home Raising program, (including demolish and rebuild or relocate), you can apply for funding of up to $150,000 for eligible works.
This funding is to raise your home above the 2021-2022 flood event level and the assessed flood level.
This includes homeowners assessed under the recently expanded home raise eligibility criteria through a one-on-one appointment and who received their eligibility letter from us.
Some important points to note
- We recommend finding a builder and submitting your application and quotes through the QRIDA portal as soon as possible as it can take 12 months to complete a complex home raise.
- If you’re not sure what works are eligible, you can speak to your builder or contact the RHF team on (07) 3007 4485 and select option 2 during business hours (9am to 5pm).
- You may also qualify for an additional dollar-for-dollar co-contribution from the fund for eligible works over $150,000. This will depend on the program you are eligible to apply for. In cases of genuine financial hardship, you can apply to have your co-contribution waived.
