Standard processing times
Applications usually take 4 to 6 weeks to process. It can take longer if you haven’t supplied all the information we need or paid the correct fees.
It's illegal to work as a body art tattooist without a valid licence. You must renew it before it expires.

Supporting documents
You must send us 2 new passport-sized photos of yourself every 10 years or if your appearance has significantly changed. They must be certified and signed by someone who is over 18 and has known you for at least 12 months. You can upload copies to your online application.
You don't need to provide finger and palm prints with a renewal application.
Incomplete applications
We'll contact you for more information if your application is incomplete. If you don't provide the requested information, we might withdraw your application and you'll need to reapply.

We send out renewal notices—including a renewal form—4 to 6 weeks before the expiry date.
