Digital Licence App Privacy Notice
Purpose and scope of this privacy notice
Your use of the Digital Licence App and the data and information it contains or provides (the App) involves the collection, use and handling of your personal information by:
- the State of Queensland, acting through the Department of Customer Services, Open Data and Small and Family Business (CDSB) and Transport and Main Roads (TMR), and its contractor, Thales Australia Ltd (the vendor); and
- other Queensland Government agencies (Issuing Agencies), if you choose to add digital credentials, licences, permits, authorities or products (Digital Authorities) issued by those agencies.
This privacy notice applies to the collection, use and handling of your personal information to the extent that it is collected by or provided to CDSB, TMR or the vendor in connection with your onboarding or use of the App.
Other privacy notices and policies will also apply to the collection, use and handling of your personal information in connection with the App:
- the CDSB general privacy policy and the TMR general privacy statement;
- if you choose to add Digital Authorities issued by other Issuing Agencies, privacy notices and policies specific to the relevant Issuing Agency - these will be brought to your attention as part of the process of adding those Digital Authorities; and
- the Queensland Digital Identity Terms and Conditions and Privacy Notice.
How is your personal information collected, used and handled in connection with the App?
The table below sets out information concerning how your personal information is collected, used and handled in connection with the App by:
- CDSB, as the provider and administrator of the App, and in some cases the vendor as provider of App services to CDSB;
- TMR, including in its role as an Issuing Agency; and
- Issuing Agencies generally – although you should read and rely on each Issuing Agency's own privacy notice in relation to Digital Authorities you add to the App.

Why is your personal information collected? | CDSB and the vendor collect and use your information for the purposes of:
Personal information will be managed by the vendor and other ICT service providers to the same or substantially similar information management standards as CDSB. Consents
You consent to your personal information being:
- collected by CDSB from TMR and other Issuing Agencies and by TMR and other Issuing Agencies from TMR and used in accordance with this privacy notice;
- disclosed by CDSB to other Issuing Agencies and disclosed by TMR and other Issuing Agencies to CDSB to the extent necessary to include any other Digital Authorities you choose to include in the App and otherwise in accordance with this privacy notice;
- shared with a third party when you present the information in the App to that third party for verification, visual inspection, online authentication or for any other purpose; and
- sent or disclosed outside of Australia when the App is taken, used or accessed outside of Australia.
If you choose to add Digital Authorities issued by other Issuing Agencies, you will be required to provide other consents at that time.
Access to other applications and functions
The App requires access to other applications and functions on your Digital Device, including;
- the camera application;
- location services;
- Bluetooth and wifi connectivity; and
- biometric and other device security features.
Access to these applications and features is required for verification, on-boarding, reporting, analytics, support, security purposes or for other purposes to provide you with a service. Access may also be required to other applications or functions on your Digital Device from time to time.
Access to, amendment and deletion of your personal information
You may:
- delete the App at any time by uninstalling it from your Digital Device;
- securely reset your Digital Licence App; and
- use the App and CDSB's, TMR's and other Issuing Agencies' other online services to access, update, amend and delete certain personal information.
You should notify TMR and other Issuing Agencies of any changes in your personal information so that your records are complete and up to date. Note that you will need to separately update your information with each Issuing Agency responsible for the Digital Authorities included in your App.
You may also request:
- access to and amendment of personal information held by CDSB, TMR and other Issuing Agencies; and
- deletion of accounts created using the App and information held associated with those accounts,
by using the contact details below.
CDSB, TMR and Issuing Agencies may decline to provide access to, or amend or delete personal or other information where they are legally permitted to refuse to do so. The relevant agency will explain the basis for its decision when responding to your request or otherwise within a reasonable time.
Reasons for refusal may include, but are not limited to, where access, amendment or deletion would be:
- inconsistent with CDSB's or the Issuing Agency's obligations to maintain records under legislation including the Public Records Act 2023; or
- contrary to the public interest under the IP Act or the Right to Information Act 2009.
Other information
Information about how you may:
- access or amend personal information held by CDSB, TMR or other Issuing Agencies; and
- complain about a breach of the Queensland Privacy Principles, and how the agency will deal with complaints,
may also be found in the relevant agency's privacy policy, including the CDSB general privacy policy, the TMR general privacy statement, and privacy policies of other Issuing Agencies specified in their own privacy notices.
Deletion of your Queensland Digital Identity
You may also delete your Queensland Digital Identity account by following the process on the Queensland Digital Identity page, whether or not you created it as part of the onboarding process for the App.
Please note: Deleting your Queensland Government Digital Identity will not remove your Digital Authorities from your App. In order to do that, you will also need to securely reset your Digital Licence App.
