Community Re-entry Support Team (CREST)

CREST provides re-entry support services to prisoners in Queensland correctional centres, including:

  • in-prison information and referral services: Support for prisoners to discuss re-integration needs. Also, referrals to external agencies for housing, medical treatment and other services
  • post-release managed services (PRMS): Pre-release planning and up to 3 months of post-release support for eligible prisoners
  • parole support services (PSS): Assistance for people on parole experiencing instability in the community, as requested by community corrections officers.

Borallon Training and Correctional Centre (BTCC)

Borallon Training and Correctional Centre (BTCC) provides throughcare services to help prisoners develop skills and knowledge for employability after release. Services include:

  • pathways plans: Individualised plans to address training needs and areas requiring further support
  • vocational training: Skills development to prepare prisoners for employment opportunities.

Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages

The registry helps individuals get proof of identity documents, such as birth certificates, which can be required when accessing housing and government services.

  • a one-off crisis payment

  • post-release services for individuals at risk of re-offending

MARA – Southeast Queensland Women’s Re-entry Services

The MARA program provides gender-specific, trauma-informed re-entry services for women. It operates in Brisbane Women’s Correctional Centre, Numinbah Correctional and Helena Jones Correctional Centre.

Services include:

  • inreach services: Support for women to connect with external agencies before release
  • outreach services: Detailed planning and support for up to 3 months before release and up to 6 months after release, including connections to housing and child safety services.
