You can request an adjournment to postpone a court hearing by submitting an online application.

What you should know
You must make a request for adjournment by no later than 4pm, 2 business days before the court hearing date.
Who can use this service
You can request an adjournment if you are the:
- prosecutor
- legal representative for the defendant.
Don't use this service if:
- you are the defendant
Instead, have your legal representative apply for you.
How to request an adjournment
Follow these steps to submit your application online.
Step 1: Complete the application form
Complete the online form.
Step 2: Upload your supporting documents
Upload your evidence to support your application. This might be a medical certificate.
File requirements
Max 1 file per submission, 5MB or less.
Approved file types are .doc .docx .pdf .odf .jpg .jpeg .bmp .tif .tiff .png .xls .xlsx.
Step 3: Get consent
Confirm the prosecution consents to the submission of an adjournment request.
Step 4: Receive the outcome
You’ll receive an email notifying you that the request has been approved or refused.
If approved, you will receive a new court date. If refused, you will have to attend court on the date already set.

Processing time begins when a completed application is received.
Standard applications: up to 2 business days
Urgent applications: not available
