The Office of Fair Trading (OFT) can help consumers resolve some disputes with the industries we regulate and about products and services that don’t meet:

Before you can lodge a formal complaint with us, you must first try resolving the issue directly with the business.

Use our consumer complaints tool to find out who to make your complaint to. It may be OFT or another agency, depending on the type of complaint.

What if we can't help?

We can’t help with all types of consumer complaints. For example, we don't handle complaints about private sales, except some private vehicle purchases.

Where possible, we'll refer you to another organisation that can. You can also access our list of other consumer regulators.
