You can get a commemorative marriage certificate in Queensland. Apply to the Registry or Births, Deaths and Marriages and pay a fee.

You can use this service to get a commemorative marriage certificate:

  • if your marriage is registered in Queensland.

These are not official marriage certificates.

You must submit your completed application form online, by post or in person.

What you should know

If you want to choose more than one design, you will need to fill in the online form for each one.

When you apply you need to:

  • choose the design
  • answer the questions.

You do not need to submit your proof of identity. We will check that you can apply.

Certificates fit a standard A4 picture frame—certificate size 210mm x 297mm.  It will be posted in an A4 envelope with cardboard reinforcement.

Who can use this service

You can apply for a commemorative marriage certificate if:
Correct.you you are one of the people in the marriage
Correct. you were married in Queensland.
Don't use this service if:
Incorrect. you were married outside of Queensland
Instead, apply in that state, territory or country.
Incorrect. you also need an official marriage certificate for identity purposes
Instead, choose a commemorative package from the get a marriage certificate service.

How to apply for a commemorative marriage certificate

Once your application is approved we will post the certificate to you.

We will send the certificate in an A4 envelope with cardboard reinforcement.

Once your application is approved we will post the certificate to you.

You will need to use our self-service kiosk at the Brisbane registry.

Step 2: Submit your application

Submit your application using the self-service kiosk at:

Opening hours: Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 4.30pm.

Closed public holidays.

Bring with you:

  • payment method
  • original ID and supporting documents.

Step 3: Receive the certificate

Once your application is approved the certificate will be given to you in person.

How long it takes

Processing times apply to applications submitted online or by post.

Standard application: up to 10 business days

Urgent application: not available

Allow extra time for public holidays and postage.

How much it costs

The fee you pay is for you to submit your application and for the Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages to review it.

  • Commemorative marriage certificate: $29.20

Regular postage is free.

You can choose other delivery types:

  • Registered post (recommended): $8.10
  • Express post: $8.55
  • International registered mail: $18.55
